We know it can be awkward and difficult visiting a church for the first time. Every visitor is important to us and we hope to make you feel right at home.
Expect to be greeted at the door by one of our volunteers who will answer any questions you have. Stop by the Welcome table at the Green Ministry Wall to fill out a connect card. We just want to know who is joining us on Sunday and learn a little bit about who you are.
We promise to not single you out or pressure you into giving money, or show up at your house. We do talk about how to give of your tithes and offerings during our service, and would love to have you fill out a connect card.
So come in and be a part of what God is doing here through Portland Nazarene Church!
We have a nursery, Kinderchurch and kids church (K-5th) during our 10:00 AM worship service, and they also have their own life groups at 9:00 AM.
What to expect
Our Worship Service
We have Sunday Life groups at 9:00 AM for all ages! Our Sunday Morning Worship Service starts at 10:00AM.
Our
service is upbeat, casual, and encouraging. We have some traditional hymns as well as modern Worship music.
You can also expect to hear a challenging and insightful message every
Sunday morning. Our entire 10:00 AM service is streamed live every week.
Our services will feel comfortable to people of many different backgrounds.
During
our service, we have a nursery for children 0-2, kinder-church for kids 3-5 years, and children's church for kindergarten - 3rd grade. Once kids are
checked in, either for Life Groups or for the service, they will stay
in the kid's zone until you pick them up. Our 4th and 5th graders worship with us in the Worship Center.
On the first Sunday of the month, we have Family Day, and all of our kids (Pre-K-5th) worship with us in the Worship Center. Nursery is still available. We also take up our "noisy offering" to support our sponsored kids around the world.

now what?
We strongly believe in the
importance of relationships. Coming to a Sunday morning service is a
great place to start, but we believe that true discipleship happens in community. There are many great ways to connect with your church family and get involved in what God is doing.
We have a class that meets the first three weeks of each month called "Pathway". They meet at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning in classroom 1 of the main building during our Sunday School time. Once you have completed the three weeks, you should have a fairly complete understanding of what our church believes, how to grow your faith, and how to serve others!
In fact, the three sessions mirror our mission statement: Love God. Love Others. Serve Both.
Building relationships is what we're about
Challenge yourself to go further than simply showing up.
Be a part of what's going on.
Get connected and be a part of our family.

What We Believe
Our church is proud to be a part of a much larger body. We are a part of The Church of the Nazarene, a protestant, holiness denomination with a rich tradition of discipleship and mission minded service. The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition.
We periodically offer "Nazarene 101" classes for those who wish to know more about the history and beliefs of our denomination. For more info on our denominational heritage, visit the Church of the Nazarene website.
We are united with all believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We believe that in divine love, God offers to all people forgiveness of sins and restored relationship. In being reconciled to God, we believe that we are also to be reconciled to one another, loving each other as we have been loved by God and forgiving each other as we have been forgiven by God.
God, who is Holy, calls us to a life of Holiness. We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to do in us a second work of grace, called entire sanctification, cleansing us from all sin, renewing us in the image of God, empowering us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves, and producing in us the character of Christ. Holiness in the life of believers is most clearly understood as Christlikeness.
As a sent people, we respond to the call of Christ and live empowered by the Holy Spirit to "go into all the world" witnessing to the Lordship of Christ. Our mission begins in worship, encourages believers toward Christian maturity through discipleship, and ministers to our world through compassion and evangelism.
The Church of the Nazarene holds these beliefs to be true. They are common to churches world-wide.
We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living
We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race
We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place
